Our watchmakers applied themselves to master the craft of heat tempering steel. The hands are individually polished, then carefully heat-treated to an even and consistent blue. For us, the soft off-white of Iron Cream is every bit as crisp and classical as a traditional enamel dial, with a warmth and depth thats quite different from white. The A1 – our first decorated movement – was a collaboration with Glasgow-based artist Rachel Duckhouse. To start with, we asked what a traditional calibre – designed in the 1950s – might have looked like if modern decorative processes had been available. The answer saw us interpret Rachels pen and ink drawings with laser-engraving, multi-axis machining and advanced galvanic treatments, testing the capabilities of some of Switzerlands top suppliers.
