The chambered nautilus is one of the oldest creatures known to live in the ocean. According to NOAA, fossil records show similar animals have existed for about 500 million years. Backstory: This design was created when a customer, celebrating his retirement, asked for a custom watch of the Universe's Golden Circle (ratio). Drawn to the spiral mathematical precision of a golden circle, and the fact that a Nautilus is a relative of the wondrous octopus, cuttle fish and squid, this watch was a pleasure to design and took on special meaning. To show the inner chamber shell as different pieces of the same color, I needed to create delicate wires, less than one inch from end to end, to separate each piece. Process and Materials: This dial features a background of light Tahitian abalone, with hues of silver, bronze, and ivory that shift in the light. The nautilus shell is inlaid from blue Paua and Tahitian abalones, while anodized aluminum frames and accentuates the inner chambers. Each piece is individually crafted, making every dial one of a kind. Available in 38mm Band size: 20mm Swiss Quartz
