The golden Fears Our flagship watch - the Brunswick Midas Silver. We hand make only ten Midas watches in total each year across the two dial variants. The complexity of the curvaceous case and level of hand finishing required for each watch not only takes time but also high levels of skill. Housed in an elegant 38mm cushion-shaped case inspired by a watch Fears made in 1924 - one of the most graceful shapes a watch can take. Case Starting life from a block of marine-grade Phosphor Bronze, each case is first machined before undergoing an entire day of hand-polishing by an expert watchmaker. The watchmaker's skill results in the beautiful curves of Midas and gives it its brilliant shine. The finished Bronze case then receives its œDual-Gold coating; first a layer of 18ct rose gold then a layer of 9ct yellow gold. These two layers of differing golds give the watch is unique warm yellow gold colour truly special. The Midas is manually wound each day using a traditional ˜onion™ shaped winding crown. Made in Switzerland, the crown's grooves and "Dual-Gold" coating catch the light, adding a little sparkle to the edge of the case. The watch features a solid stainless steel caseback, with a spun, circular grained finish, which echoes those found on the rolled gold Fears watches produced in the 1960s and 70s. Dial The Brunswick Midas Silver features a brilliant silver tone on the dial, thanks to a Rhodium coating, along with delicate, vertical brushing, applied by hand, making each watch unique. At six o™clock is the sunken sub-seconds, finished in concentric circles. The numerals receive their own œDual-Gold coating, before being applied by hand, and these, together with the finishing of the dial, create, in the right light, the illusion of a pale champagne colour. The elegant, classic set of numerals was designed specially for Fears by a horological typographer, inspired by the many different typefaces Fears has used throughout its history. Hands œDual-Gold also finds its way onto ˜Fears™ shape hands, which are hand finished (pun intended) by a watchmaker giving them a depth and detail not found in mass produced, stamped watch hands. Fears is rare in making its watch hands in-house in the UK, something done by only a handful of British watch brands. Movement The Midas is powered by a Swiss made, manual winding ETA 7001 movement. The design of this accurate movement was first penned in the 1970s and its reliability results in it being a popular choice today. We service and finish each movement in Britain, applying a ˜stippled™ surface finish along with œDual-Gold plating. Once the movement has been re-assembled and thoroughly tested it then receives the ˜Golden Pipette™. Strap Each Midas Silver is paired with a handmade Bristol Leather strap in Chocolate Brown. This premium strap uses calf leather, vegetable tanned in Britain's oldest tannery in Bristol. The strap is fastened with a œDual-Gold buckle that perfectly matches the warmth of the case. Individually Numbered Each watch Fears makes carries a unique serial number. Engraved between the 20mm lugs at 12 o™clock, this number helps us identify your watch and its history through our master database. The serial numbers are sequential, meaning no two watches, regardless of batch, will ever carry the same number. BRITISH BOX For decades Fears presented their watches in a dark blue box with a cream-coloured lining. We are delighted to continue this tradition today. The Brunswick Midas Silver is presented in a bespoke wooden box, crafted in Britain from English Ash, which is stained Fears Blue. Lined in genuine cream suede, the watch sits proudly on a special cushion. With minimal branding, the outside of the lid reveals a hidden map of Brunswick Square when held in a certain light.A truly special wrist watch.
