THE ICON RETURNS 417 ES With the new Hanhart 417 ES, we are celebrating the return of a stopwatch legend. Over 60 years ago, its historical model served as the first pilot's chronograph for the German armed forces. Today, it combines the best design of the past with the most modern production techniques of our time. The result: a robust chronograph with an exciting story for everyday life and adventure. AN ICON FROM THE 1950S TRADITION IN DETAIL The 417 ES is a piece of living Hanhart tradition. Its fluted bezel rotates continuously in both directions and its red position marker is reminiscent of the original from the 1950s. The numerals and lettering on the dial, in the distinctive Hanhart layout with subdials at 3 and 9 oclock, as well as the symmetrical pusher spacing, were also adopted from the historic model. That is why it rightly bears the historic Hanhart logo. WATERPROOF UP TO 10 BAR HAND-WOUND Like its historical model, the 417 ES has a hand-wound caliber. The range of action of the historic 417 outside the cockpit was severely limited due to its limited watertightness. That's why our new 417 ES can withstand pressures of up to 10 bar. DARKNESS? NO PROBLEM SUPER LUMINOVA® The hands and numerals of the Hanhart 417 ES are coated with Super-LumiNova® to ensure optimum readability by day and night. THE ICON FROM THE PAST THE LEGENDARY 417 Robustness, reliability and readability. From the mid-1950s, Hanhart built the first pilot's chronograph for the German armed forces according to these three criteria. Its name is 417 and its task is uncompromising use on the pilot's wrist. Hanhart supplied the German armed forces with the chronograph for almost ten years, until the brand concentrated on building hand stopwatches in 1963. The few surviving examples of the original 417 have since become the most sought-after vintage chronographs from Germany. With the new Hanhart 417 ES, whose suffixed letter abbreviation stands for stainless steel as it once did, we are celebrating the return of this legendary stopwatch. THE CONTEMPORARY RE-INTERPRETATION Our aim was to design the 417 ES to be as slim as possible so that it would be present on the wrist without appearing disproportionate. Despite the highly domed sapphire crystal, it is only 13.3 mm thick. Its crown is adorned with our historic logo. SWISS-MADE QUALITY PRECISION CALIBER Behind the screw-down stainless steel case back of the 417 ES, the reliable hand-wound SW 510 M caliber operates in the best Swiss-made quality. In addition to stop-seconds, it offers a power reserve of up to 58 hours when fully wound. QUALITY LEATHER OR STAINLESS STEEL COMFORTABLE TO WEAR With its black calfskin strap and waistband-style carpet pad, the 417 ES is comfortable to wear from day one. For extra comfort against the skin, the black calfskin strap is finished with Alcantara on the inside. A pin buckle with the historic Hanhart logo ensures a secure fit. For further design options, we also offer waistband bracelets in dark brown and light brown.
