HIGHLY FUNCTIONAL PRECISION CHRONOGRAPH PIONEER TachyTele Hanhart was a pioneer in the field of reliable, highly functional precision chronographs. In 1938, the company designed the single-pusher with its own ``Caliber 40`` for naval officers. Just one year later, the first pilot's chronographs with the ``Caliber 41`` - a switching gear train with flyback function - followed. When the Swiss-German watch brand reissued faithful replicas of these legendary chronographs in the 1990s, it was building on its long tradition and high level of expertise. THE PERFECT TIMEPIECE TACHYMETER & TELEMETER In addition to the stop function, the PIONEER TachyTele has two practical scales that are easy to read on the old white dial thanks to their red design: The tachymeter scale for measuring average speeds is located in a spiral in the center of the dial. As this allows a total of three revolutions of the stop pointer to be taken into account, this significantly extends the measuring range. This means that even relatively slow speeds of 60 km/h to 20 km/h can be measured. The telemeter scale printed on the outside of the dial is used to measure distances, taking into account the speed of sound. VINTAGE CHARACTER THE PERFECT EVERYDAY COMPANION The PIONEER TachyTele measures 40 mm in diameter and 15 mm in height. The typical Hanhart leather strap with stainless steel rivets emphasizes the vintage character of this watch and ensures a pleasant feel on the wrist. It is the perfect everyday companion, whether for work or leisure. The historical character has been combined with the modern Hanhart logo to perfectly complement the PIONEER collection. The hands and numerals are coated with Super-LumiNova® to guarantee perfect reading of the time even in the dark. HANHART CAL. 42 THE ICONIC PREDECESSOR The Hanhart calibre 42, a flyback calibre with manual winding, was introduced in the 1950s and was a further development of the calibres 40 and 41. The design of the hands and numerals of the PIONEER One are based on this iconic model. The calibre was installed in the Hanhart chronographs 417 and 417 ES (the stainless steel version), which were originally produced for the German Air Force. For this reason, the watch is also known among connoisseurs as the Bundeswehr Chronograph. In the 1950s, around 500 pieces were made from brass and 500 from stainless steel. Today, they are a rarity and therefore extremely difficult to find and acquire. Hanhart chronographs were often an aesthetic model for the design of numerous military and pilot's watches from many well-known watch manufacturers. WATERPROOF UP TO 10 BAR ROBUST CASING To ensure the best water resistance and robustness, it is equipped with a closed, screwed case back like its predecessors, which guarantees the watch a water resistance of up to 10 bar QUALITY LEATHER OR STAINLESS STEEL COMFORTABLE TO WEAR The PIONEER TachyTele is comfortable to wear from day one thanks to the strap made of sturdy, durable calfskin. The watch can also be purchased with a stainless steel bracelet. A high-quality pin buckle ensures that the watch is held securely in place.
Value note: On paper, the spec mix is sensible: mechanical movement, sapphire crystal, and usable water resistance. The value case is strongest if the design language is what you want.
