Description Technical Specs Questions Islander Bridgehampton Racing Chronograph with Pure White Dial #ISL-235 The Bridgehampton race track was a car racing circuit that operated in the mid to late 1900s. Located on the east end of Long Island, near the town of Sag Harbor, the track closed permanently in 1999. Islander seeks to keep the race alive, with this series of Islander Bridgehampton Racing Chronographs. The Islander Bridgehampton is our first mechanical (hand wound) chronograph. Running on the Seagull 1901 movement, this intricate mechanical marvel is visible through the screwdown exhibition caseback. The Seagull 1901 is a column wheel chronograph, and you can see the castle gear (near the bottom of the movement) rotating through the caseback, during the start/stop/resetting of the watch. When fully wound, it has a power reserve of 40 hours. The left subdial contains the running seconds, while the right subdial is the elapsed minutes. Starting the chronograph puts the center elapsed seconds hand into motion, and after one minute, the subdial at the right will read 1. Even though it has a maximum elapsed time of 30 minutes, we have incorporated a dual time bezel that allows you to record up to 12 hours of elapsed time. Or, as another, the 90 click bi-directional bezel can be used as a second time zone. The Bridgehampton is a classic watch with modern style and sizing. At 40mm in diameter, you will find it at home on many wrist sizes. The 20mm stainless steel bracelet has 4 positions of microadjust, and uses female endlinks so it can bend easily around the wrist. It tapers down to 18mm at the clasp. The bracelet is solid link, solid endlink, and is easily sized with screws. We also include a bonus rallye leather strap if you wish to swap out the bracelet for a sporty look. Time is read via stick hands, and the running seconds hand is accented against the subtidal background. A scratch resistant, domed sapphire crystal is used so the watch will always look new. Telling time in low light is a breeze thanks to the generous use of Superl-LmiNova on the hands and indices, as well as on the bi-directional IP plated bezel insert.
