Description Technical Specs Questions Islander JFK Automatic GMT Watch with Grey Cloud Dial and Dual Color Bezel #ISL-208 GMT watches are built for travelers, so it is only natural that our latest GMT offering is called the JFK, named after the bustling international airport located on Long Island. But perhaps more importantly, we have chosen a cloud dial design that is a subtle reminder of the sky. The grey cloud embossed dial is marked with gunmetal indices to denote the hour markers, and a framed date at the 6:00 position. The markers are filled generously with BGW9 Super-LumiNova to provide low light visibility – ditto for the gunmetal hands. We have chosen to mark the luminous portion of the GMT hand with C3, so it contrasts with a green glow. A chapter ring marked with a 24 hour scale is used to track a second time zone. Covering the dial is a scratch resistant domed sapphire crystal with inner anti-reflective coating, so it will remain looking new for years. Surrounding the dial is a bi-directional bezel that clicks into place with satisfying detents. This allows you to track a third time zone if desired, just rotate the bezel so the GMT time you desire aligns with the GMT hand. The bezel insert is sapphire, painted grey over black, with lumed numbers to complete the look. Setting and winding the watch is a breeze, thanks to the oversized screwdown crown located at the 4:00 position. The crown also supports the watchs 200 meter water resistance rating. Securing the watch to your wrist is a 20mm female endlink bracelet, to provide the ultimate comfort. This bracelet articulates at the case, so it will not overhang your wrist. The 42mm case will be at home on all wrist sizes. And speaking of sizing, the bracelet is solid link, solid endlink and is sized with screws. To tune the fit, an embossed 6-position microadjust clasp (fully milled) is used. The bracelet tapers from 20mm at the lug, to 16mm at the clasp. The JFK is powered by the Seiko NH34 automatic GMT movement. This is a handwinding, hacking movement that provides a 40 hour power reserve. The movement is powered by the motion of your wrist. All that is left to do is strap the JFK onto your wrist, and wonder where you will take it next!
