This year, the Limited Edition model returns as an automatic travelers GMT, with a case style that was clearly born in the future. The most ambitious Rangemaster yet has been redesigned from the ground up – not only the watch, but the packaging as well. Taking inspiration from the first Rangemaster (a modernized, everyday field watch) and iconic 1970s and 80s era film and watch designs, the Rangemaster II GMT leaps one step further toward tomorrow with a bigger, bolder, more assertive concept—much like an excellent sequel to your favorite sci-fi movie. Limited to 500 pieces, 250 black (ISL-266) and 250 white (ISL-267). The skeletonized stainless steel case is a mix of polished, vertical brushed, circular brushed and blasted finishes. Though each is visually different, they all work wonderfully together, especially at the skeletonized lugs and recessed pockets. The uniquely engineered case is a modest 43.2mm across, from left to right (not including crown). The thickness is 13.8mm to a flat sapphire crystal (with inner AR). Amazingly, it is a squat 45.4mm from lug tip to lug tip. Securing it to your wrist is a custom solid link bracelet that attaches to the watch with a tongue and groove system. The tongue is secured through the use of 4 recessed hex fasteners. To size the bracelet, screws are used (all tools are included). Additionally, a deployant rubber strap is included. Should the user decide that they want to use their own straps, we also include a set of adapters that allow the use of most 20mm straps to be mounted to the watch as well in a manner thats far more secure than conventional spring bars (please see product photography). The 3/6/9 are prominent, as well as the triangle at the top. They are framed nicely and have amazing lume. The numbers and indices are raised off the dial, providing a 3-dimensional effect. The dial of the watch incorporates many useful design elements, all playing together perfectly to maintain amazing legibility, whether in daylight or at night. The dial is marked with the Islander logo at the top and the model, the RMII, is noted at the bottom. The caseback is embossed with Gentry Labs, the design center that produced the idea for the watch. Built to make a statement, this watch is rugged and ultra-functional. Inside is a Made in Japan Miyota 9075 traveler GMT movement. What is a traveler GMT? As the name implies, it is built for the explorer. Getting off a plane at a different time zone? No problem—pull out the crown one click, and when you rotate it, the hour hand moves in one-hour increments on the time scale. It is so advanced that you can go forwards or backwards, and the date will change as needed! The GMT hand stays where it is, and this would be your home time. Power reserve is about 40 hours, so you will be able to lay it down for a day, and pop it back on the following day without missing a beat. The crown is super easy to turn with your fingertips, and is screwdown to maintain 150 meters of water resistance. You read the GMT scale (home time) off the fixed steel bezel with the 24 hour markings. Additionally, a date window is tucked away neatly between the 4:00 and 5:00 positions. The edge of the caseback is etched with the limited edition series number (XXX/500) and the phrase WHATEVER TIME YOU CHOOSE IS THE RIGHT TIME. NOT LATE, NOT EARLY., reminding you that time is ephemeral. The packaging is done in Razzle Dazzle vintage camouflage, which was used by the British during WWI and WWII to evade torpedoes from German U-Boats. It complements the dynamic, angular forms of the watch, and is yet another small nod to the past, as we look towards the future with the RMII GMT.
