After 7 years, Mephisto is back One of the things that gives the architecture of Mephisto_III a unique appearance is that its case is angular as a whole but embellished with curvaceous and highly polished concave edges everywhere from bezel, case, crown, case back to the integrated bracelet that give its silhouette multiple levels and finishes making this Makinas most detailed case design yet. Its sharp edges are crisp with clear cut, alternating brushed and polished finishing. One of the reasons the release of this model has been delayed multiple times is the meticulous effort in craftsmanship involved in producing the concave edges found in its integrated bracelet which connects seamlessly to the watch case. The 38mm case is made of surgical grade, 316L stainless steel and measures at only 45mm lug to lug and case thickness of 11.15 mm. The crown is a screw down type with a 100m water resistance rating. Under the highly scratch resistant flat sapphire crystal glass with 3x AR coating is a dial design inspired by the very first Mephisto, the very first model to come out of Makina, but has grown to become even more multifaceted allowing for more light play during wrist rolls. The dials multi-layered design, its tall metallic indexes and faceted alpha hands add 3-dimensional interest not commonly found in 3-handed timepieces. The exhibition style case back displays the highly renowned, Swiss-made, Sellita SW200 movement modified with a gold electro-plated rotor.
