The OW C-1000 MkII is the modern incarnation of the legendary Ollech & Wajs Precision ˜Caribbean 1000™, worn by record-breaking skin divers, elite deep-water commercial divers and ocean explorers. With the burgeoning popularity of scuba diving in the 1960s, watchmakers were no longer measured by seconds and minutes alone, but by feet and metres. A dive watch that could safely function at 300 m (984 ft) was an incredible accomplishment that still eluded most major brands. However, testing had begun on a watch capable of going deeper than anybody had ever thought possible. In 1964 the Ollech & Wajs Precision ˜Caribbean 1000™ achieved a certified record-shattering depth rating of 1,000 m (3,300 ft), earning it a place in dive-watch folklore. The C-1000 MkII continues the legacy by serving a new generation of elite professionals and sportspeople. - Swiss made- Soprod Newton P092 Automatic- COSC-certification available- 1,000 m / 100ATM- Diameter (excluding crown) 39.5 mm- Three-year warranty AVAILABLE NOW Estimated delivery time of 3-4 weeks from ordering date. FULL DESCRIPTION A product of modern Swiss watchmaking, the OW C-1000 is powered by OW's bespoke Soprod Newton Precision P092 automatic calibre. The Soprod Newton calibre is independently tested for dependability and durability at the internationally renown Laboratoire Dubois in Chaux-de-Fonds, and praise from OW customers has been emphatic, with many claiming it is simply the most accurate movement they have ever owned. Modified to OW's own specifications and adjusted in five positions, the movement has been finished in accordance with our rugged aesthetics, and ˜OW Zurich 1956™ is engraved into the nickel-plated base, on which sits a co-designed, custom rotor in the shape of the OW marque. The inimitable new movement carries OW's own ˜Precision™ rating, reserved for movements of only the highest quality. Additionally, we also offer an upgraded COSC-certified version of this movement. A COSC-certified movement is one that has passed accuracy tests by the Contrôle Officiel Suisse des Chronomètres (COSC), the Swiss Official Chronometer Testing Institute. First of all we select, match and assemble the very best components and our own specialist horologer tests each movement to ensure that only those that perform with least variance are submitted to COSC. The certification process itself involves rigorous testing over 15 days, during which each movement is evaluated across various positions and temperatures to ensure it maintains a precise daily rate. Each chronometer certified movement receives an individual serial number and a certificate from COSC. This unique certification serial number is engraved onto the mainplate of each movement, assuring that it has undergone and passed the stringent testing. A C-1000MKII fitted with a COSC movement will also have a specially engraved crown to denote its chronometer status. The movement is housed in a 39.56 mm, 316L stainless steel, 1,000 m water-resistant case, which is stamped, machined and brushed in Jura, Switzerland. The OW C-1000 S is also equipped with a reinforced case back, an extra-strong, domed sapphire crystal and a special quadruple gaskets screw-down crown. The watch has a stainless steel rotating bezel with a mineral insert to measure dive times, and Super-LumiNova®-covered indexes and hands for extra readability when diving to extreme depths. The OW C-1000 comes on a choice of three straps: The OW S-type Mark II beads-of-rice, stainless steel bracelet of the OW C-1000 was inspired by those found on past Ollech & Wajs models of the 1960s Precision line, including the legendary Caribbean 1000. Its links are individually machined in a solid block of 316L stainless steel, before being carefully brushed, assembled and screwed by hand. This process prevents the usual stretching common among pressed steel bracelets, ensuring both longevity and comfort to the wearer. The bracelet's double-lock deployant clasp prevents accidental opening while remaining easy to handle for divers. In honour of the ocean and Arctic explorers who wore the Caribbean 1000, there is the ever-popular rubber Expedition strap. Made from premium-quality, toxin- free rubber it is soft to the touch and adheres perfectly to the wrist. Its insulative properties help it remain flexible at low temperatures, ensuring comfort during cold-water diving. It is also abrasion-, distortion-, heat- and oil-resistant. Embossed onto the smooth, matt-black outer surface is a centimetres and inches rule and a 1:25000 cartographic scale. On the reverse is the Morse code alphabet and a metres, yards and feet conversion table. Manufactured by an artisanal Italian rubber specialist, with 40 years™ experience in strap development; and hand-finished in Switzerland; it with two brushed stainless steel keepers and a thorn buckle, signed ˜OWZ 1956™. This strap does more than just hold your watch in place it helps you calculate, translate and navigate. To mark the introduction of the C-1000 MkII, there is also new monochromatic 'Freediver' RAF style nylon band. The thin white line woven through the strap symbolises the static line used by free-divers to guide their decent and accent to and from the darkness. The band is finished with an engraved OWZ thorn style buckle and two stainless steel keepers. The 'Freediver' band comes as a complimentary accessory with both the Rubber Expedition strap and the S-type bracelet.
