What makes the Lancaster 153 unique: Today, were delighted to showcase a magnificent piece of history originally manufactured by the Hamilton Watch Company — the Lancaster 153. This one-of-a-kind wristwatch is powered by an antique pocket watch from 1928. The pocket watch features a unique dial with golden numerals that complement the pieces light-tan background. The front of the piece also displays distinct violet diamond kite hands as well as a stylish subdial. We matched the dials unique colors with our Bronzed Titanium case and equipped it with an eye-catching nickel-plated crown. On the back of the watch, you can view the timepieces 912-grade open-face movement with a nickel finish, black inlay color, and pendant setting. The back of the watch also boasts luxurious gold-plated gears powered by 17 screw-set jewels throughout its ¾ plate. Finally, we equipped this antique watch with our comfortable Stone leather watch strap, drawing further attention to the Lancaster 153s unforgettable dial and case. The Hamilton Watch Company initially produced this pieces pocket watch in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, in 1928 — the same year Philip Drinker and Louis Agassiz Shaw Jr. invented the iron lung. The device works by varying the air pressure within a tightly enclosed space, stimulating a persons breathing. Medical professionals first used the iron lung on an eight-year-old girl dying of respiratory failure as a result of polio. The device stimulated her breathing within only a minute and prevented her death. Because of contemporary medical inventions and the widespread eradication of polio, medical professionals no longer use the iron lung, but the device saved thousands of people during the 20th century.
