The 2023 Special Edition of the Military Edition Series is officially our new favorite watch. We're only building 10 of these... ever, and we've used a new material to make them even more special. It's been a massive learning experience working with this new Mokume material for the bezel and crown, and we're so excited to share it with you in this year's Special Edition. This is the first watch from Vortic to feature Mokume, a unique material that looks similar to Damascus Steel, but has layers of brass, copper, and nickel-silver. The bezel and crown are made from Mokume and the case is made from bronze, all machined here in our Fort Collins, Colorado manufacturing facility. It looks awesome now, but just wait until it starts to patina... The movement inside is also special. We found 10 antique Hamilton movements from the early days of World War II, all marked "US GOVT." This marking was only done to about 10% of the total production of those Army Air Corps movements. We donate $500 from each watch to the Veterans Watchmaker Initiative , which trains disabled military vets how to become professional watchmakers. The average unemployment rate for disabled war veterans is 82%, and the funds we donate will put a dent in that figure!
