ZW-S1 conveys the simplicity of the classic avionic dials in the Spitfire cockpit. Housed in a precision billet machined matt black PVD case and matching ZW DSL lugs is a simple black dial with period numerals and indexes, clearly defined avionics style hands, and a standout red tipped sweep seconds hand. The classic dial is framed by a simple brushed steel bezel ring and the hands and dial are highlighted with SuperLuminova X1 luminous pigment. Recorded on the dial is the location and date of the first RAF Photo Reconnaissance (PR) squadron. The WW2 PR squadrons played an innovative and vitally important role in reconnoitering and photographing strategic positions ensuring that Britain stayed informed. Their skilled pilots flew long and dangerous missions deep into enemy territory in fast, unarmed high-altitude blue liveried aircraft. The dial is complimented by our simple SuperLuminova X1 aviation hour and minute hands and red tipped sweep. The watch is powered by the stellar Swiss ETA 2824-2 automatic movement thus ensuring it never misses a beat. Hand and date adjustment are by a brass finished locking screw crown modelled on the joystick gun platform fire button, a feature once so familiar to those brave young RAF pilots during the Battle of Britain. The watch is fitted with a ZW handmade strap in black Horween Derby and an engraved black PVD buckle. The strap has a burnished black edge and feature offset single crease line and will develop a beautiful patina over time which is perfectly in- keeping with this superb watch.
